How do I sign up?

Relational Mandt Course:

The first year you will need to take the Mandt Relational Blended Learning course. You can sign up in MLP (My Learning Plan). You will be required to complete and online portion of coursework which should take up to 3 hours. During this time, you can expect to watch videos and complete a test. You will then have a scheduled date and time that you MUST attend with a Mandt Instructor to get your certification.

The second year, you will have until the end of the month of the following year to re-certify. For example, if you took your Relational Blended Learning on April 14th of 2016, you have until the last day of April 2017 before you expire. In order to re-certify, you can sign up in MLP (My Learning Plan).

The third year, as long as you have not expired, you will be eligible for the “Test Out” option. You would sign up for this option on MLP (My Learning Plan). You will be sent a “seat” the date that you signed up for the test, in the afternoon. You will have a week to complete the test.

Technical Mandt Course:

The first year of certification, if you are eligible to take the Technical Course, you would sign up for a Full Technical Course on MLP (My Learning Plan). You should expect this training to take a full day of course work, tests, and practice physical skills.

The second year of certification, if you are eligible to take the Technical Course, your Relational Certification is current, AND your Technical Certification has NOT expired (remember you have until the end of the month that you took the course), you can sign up for a Technical Re-certification on MLP (My Learning Plan). You can expect to review coursework, take tests, and practice physical skills.

Do I need to take the Technical Course?

LCPS Staff that work in a self-contained classroom must be trained at the Technical level of Mandt. Also, if you are a member of the BIT (Behavior Intervention Team) at your school, you are required to take the Technical Course.

All other staff members that feel they require the skills in the Technical course MUST have prior consent from either Alison Lyons (Elementary) or Michelle Post (Middle and High).

Keep in mind that prior to signing up to take the Technical course, your Relational Certification must be current.

Have you ever asked yourself one of these questions:

What is Mandt?
Do I need to take it?
What is a relational class vs. a technical class?
What is blended learning?
Who do I contact to sign up to take the class?

If so, then you are in the right place!

You can find the answers to all of those questions, and more! If, for some reason, you still do not find the answer you need please email: Alyson.Lyons@lcps or Michelle.Post@lcps.org or Stacey.bothe@lcps.org

Who needs to take Mandt?

In LCPS, we require ALL special education teachers and Special Education Para-Professionals to maintain a current Relational Certification.

What Certifications are there?

In LCPS, we offer two different levels of certification in Mandt.

The first course is the Relational Certification. The Relational Certification teaches skills that help with building relationships, creating healthy communication, and how to solve conflict positively.

The second is the Technical Certification. The Technical Certification teaches other skills that might need to be necessary for maintaining safety.

What is Mandt?

The entire philosophy of The programs and services provided by The Mandt System, Inc. is based on “Putting People First” and on “Supporting People, Not Just Their Behaviors™”.
